Taryn’s decor tips: I often am explaining to my clients that not everything has to match or have a rhyme or reason. I love when “pops” of color are added and different styles and textures are used. It makes me feel inspired as well as think outside the box. If you are having trouble coming up with colors start by what ones are in your favourite season or time of the year. Splurge on good quality neutral color furniture, it is easy to accessorize or change up accessories.

What are two or three quick and easy tips to make your home holiday ready?

Adding a holiday scent to your home through some DIY potpourri, a stove-top simmer or scented candles is a quick and simple way to make your house feel Holiday ready. Festive lighting – whether it’s on a Christmas Tree or some twinkly fairy lights under a cloche – will also make a room feel special.

Your top sources of inspiration?

I’m a huge fan of vintage inspired decor, so watching period films and TV series gives me lots of decor inspiration. I also love nature, so a quick walk in our woods helps me remember how important it is to include natural elements in interior decor.

What should you splurge on? What can you save on?

Buying high-quality dishes, drapes, towels and sheets in pure white is always a great splurge because they’ll go with any trend throughout the years.

What is the best item you have repurposed in a design?

One of my favourite DIYs is an old door that we’ve used as a countertop above our washer and dryer. It suits our vintage-inspired laundry room decor, and it’s also a practical spot to fold clothes.

One thing you think every home design must have?

I don’t think any decor scheme is complete without some greenery and flowers. Fresh is best, but even a faux arrangement will add life to a room.

Two Buds Floral Artistry

This holiday season the trend we love is keeping it natural, organic and classic. Using fresh evergreens to dress up the table with large pillar candles and a simple monochromatic floral centerpiece is stunning!

A quick tip for place settings–using a pine cone, sprig of evergreens or herbs and a cinnamon stick tied with twine gives an organic touch to the holiday table We are inspired every day from other industry friends and vendors, magazines, and of course, social media. Although these avenues have lots of great ideas, sifting through thrift and antique shops to find a classic vintage vase provides great inspiration for a floral creation!

This year, we can’t resist splurging on fresh evergreens for décor. Use garlands and wreaths to decorate your front entrance for the season with a splash of lights and some beautiful red ribbon. The evergreens last the whole season through, while giving a fresh holiday scent to the air!
