Each year the Homes for the Holidays Tour brings together local designers and decorators, community volunteers, and retailers to decorate five beautiful homes graciously loaned to us by local homeowners for this annual fundraiser. The decorated homes are opened to the public with the purchase of a ticket, giving tour participants a dose of holiday inspiration, and the opportunity to bring décor ideas to life in their own homes.

Not only does the event spark the magic of the holiday spirit for our more than 1500 attendees, it carries that spirit on throughout the year as all proceeds from this year’s event will continue to support the Junior League of Edmonton as we direct our focus on girls’ self-esteem and mental health and services supported by the Junior League of Edmonton.

Our Mission

The Junior League of Edmonton is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

A Few of Our Accomplishments

  • To date, the Junior League of Edmonton has raised more than one million dollars for more than 50 community projects and grants, turning the projects over to the community or government agencies after they have proven viability in the community.
  • During our 2014-2015 year, our members logged more than 4300 volunteer hours by attending board meetings, general meetings and committee meetings, working at fundraisers and volunteer events, along with the planning efforts that go into our programs.
  • Annually, our fall new member class collect 50,000 diapers in 50 days in support of the Bissell Centre. This ongoing commitment allows the Bissell Centre to provide 50 Edmonton families with a supply of diapers that will last one year.

Community Projects We’ve Worked On

  • Skills for Youth Kitchen at the Youth Emergency Shelter
  • The Living Room at Kids Kottage
  • The Canadian Native Friendship Centre
  • The Resource Centre for Voluntary Organizations

  • The Volunteer Centre of Edmonton
  • WIN House

Why do we host Homes for the Holidays?

As Edmonton’s leading women’s organization, the Junior League of Edmonton develops and delivers projects in direct response to recognized needs in our community relating to our mandate of serving children, youth and families at risk. Funds raised through Homes for the Holidays will ensure that valuable services to Edmonton and area will continue to be supported, and that new programs will be identified by our Community Impact Committees.

We are one of three Canadian Junior Leagues to host Homes for the Holidays. Tours are also held in Halifax and Hamilton-Burlington.
